Take Action

Here are 5 ways that Sustainable Water Development recommends that you can  do to help the environment and increase sustainability:

  1. Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle: Upcycle things you don’t need in fun creative projects, shop secondhand, and compost scraps too. Eat locally-grown foods, cut back on meat and dairy, and shop at farmer’s markets. Make an effort to conserve water and electricity around the house. Walk or bike rather than drive a car when possible .
  2. Plant Trees: Trees absorb carbon dioxide and other pollutants, making the air cleaner. They also provide shade, which can help reduce energy consumption by keeping your home cooler in the summer .
  3. Conserve Water: Fix leaky faucets, take shorter showers, and use a broom instead of a hose to clean driveways and sidewalks. You can also install low-flow showerheads and toilets to save water .
  4. Reduce Energy Consumption: Turn off lights and unplug electronics when not in use. Use energy-efficient light bulbs and appliances. You can also install solar panels to generate your own electricity.
  5. Support Environmental Causes: Donate to environmental organizations such as Sustainable Water Development, sign petitions, and participate in local clean-up efforts.
